Some things I think... quickly...
*I almost always really like what I see of Driscoll while I watch it.
*After I watch/listen... I sometimes change my mind.
*We've gotta remember... he's not just giving his opinion for yuks on the internet. He's preaching to people in a city where there are "more dogs than Xns". His church likes him... he certainly didn't contradict the Bible... how could I complain... really?
*Jesus is the way, the truth, and the life...
*It has been said that "All truth is God's truth". Some scoff at it... I think it is true. If listening to a rabbi or atheist or satanist helps me learn about God's word, his people, and his Kingdom... it is time well spent. Even listening to a right-wing fundie Christian would be worth it if I learned something about the Kingdom of God.
*It might be fun to go to the conference with the rabbi.
*Driscoll should use Firefox with the Adblock extension installed and then he wouldn't see the ad for the rabbi (or any other ad) and might save himself a heart attack.
*It is really really really really cool to see a prominent pastor that excited about Jesus.
*I'm glad I'm on the same team as Driscoll.
From a preaching perspective, I liked him only because he mixed a lot of comedy with his message. I believe he was speaking the truth and I can see where his frustration comes from for sure.
In today's "christianity", there is such a lack of passion for truth. We have been turned off to truth and turned on to something else. Do I have an answer as to what that is? Nope. But when we read books by "prominent Christians pastors" about being a good person, or living so God will bless us 10-fold, or buying into these health and wealth type gospels, truth is lost. We not only need truth, but we need the Truth! Jesus is the answer man! Preach it however you want or need to. But we need some passionate Christians living for truth again.
Thanks for the comments (and link) gents! I enjoy listening to Driscoll (even though I don't like the hypercalvinism) and laughed my tail off on this clip. Especially taking down the Christianity Today website.
